Graduate Systems Engineering Program Provided by Missouri University of Science and Technology and the University of Southern California
The Boeing Company has selected the team of Missouri Science and Technology (Missouri S&T) and the University of Southern California (USC) to provide its engineering employees with an opportunity to enroll in a graduate program in Systems Engineering.
Boeing employees and its suppliers worldwide have the opportunity to earn a Master of Science degree, Graduate Certificate, or Ph.D. in Systems Engineering.
The program is designed to provide graduate engineers and engineering managers with the advanced knowledge and skills necessary for the conception and implementation of complex systems. The emphasis is on the processes by which complex systems are conceived, planned, designed, built, tested and certified. The systems engineering experience can be applied to defense, space, aircraft, communications, navigation, sensor, computer software, computer hardware, transportation, and other aerospace and commercial systems activities.
Engineers with a firm grounding in an engineering discipline and work experience will learn tools and approaches for confident decision making in the complex technical environment of today's corporations. Instructors with exceptional academic, professional, and industrial credentials teach within the program.
Admission Requirements
A Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, math or hard science discipline with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale from an accredited university.
Submission of satisfactory GRE scores (Verbal plus Quantitative greater or equal to 1150 and Writing greater or equal to 4.5).
Three years of work experience is recommended.
Students may enroll for up to 12 units as a limited student with advisor approval prior to admission. Courses taken as a limited student can be applied toward the degree if the student is later admitted.
MS in Systems Engineering The Master of Science degree in Systems Engineering consists of 6 core courses and 4 specialization track courses. Details about the courses are here. Students following their approved program of study will be assured of graduation upon maintenance of good academic standing. A minimum of 30 units of course work must be completed with a grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and a C grade or better in each course. Accumulation of more than 10 hours of C or F results in automatic dismissal from the Program and the University. A maximum of 9 credit hours may be transferred upon approval from the Systems Engineering Program Director and recorded on the student's plan of study.
Certificate in Systems Engineering Students can obtain a certificate in Systems Engineering, Network Centric Systems or Financial Engineering through the Systems Engineering Graduate Program. Each certificate consists of 4 courses. This program is designed to appeal to the working professionals. Certificate courses taken at the graduate level will apply to the MS in Systems Engineering with a successful completion of each course with a 3.0 or better on a 4.0 grading scale. A maximum of 3 credit hours may be transferred from another university with the approval of the program director. Graduate certificate students will be admitted to the MS program in Systems Engineering if they complete the four course sequence with a grade of B or better in each course taken. The certificate is followed by 6 courses to complete the MS degree. Missouri University of Science and Technology offers many certificates. Information about certificates offered at Missouri S&T can be found on the Distance and Continuing Education website.
How The Program Works
A Master of Science degree program consisting of 10 three-unit courses and a Graduate Certificate program consisting of 4 three-unit courses at Missouri S&T and 5 three-unit courses at USC are offered. The Graduate Certificate may be followed up with further courses to complete the MS degree program.
Students enroll at Missouri S&T or USC and must satisfy the admission requirements. Enrollment may be full time or part time. Students may take all courses from the University in which they are enrolled or transfer one course for the certificate or three courses for the MS from USC to Missouri S&T or one course from Missouri S&T to USC for the MS program.
