Dr. John Bade

Dr. John Bade (Linkedin) is a current Professor of Practice, Master of Engineering Management program (MEM) and Master of Project Management program (MPM) at Washington University in St. Louis.

John has 32 years of experience at The Boeing Company (recently retired). His last role at Boeing was the Vice President of Boeing Defense Saudi Arabia where he served on the Board of Directors for BITG, AAI and the SRSC. Previous to that, John held numerous executive positions where he was responsible for various aspects of Program Management, Business Development, Strategy, etc.

Since joining Boeing in 1988, Bade has worked in a wide variety of leadership positions with increasing responsibility in Engineering, Quality, Supplier Management, Product Support, Program Management and Business Development. Bade has held several international program management assignments working in Japan, Italy, United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. 

John holds bachelors and masters degrees in Engineering Management from the Missouri University of Science and Technology. He continued his education at Saint Louis University obtaining his master's of business administration and completed his PhD. in Engineering Management at the Missouri University of Science and Technology.

John has been teaching evening graduate courses at the Missouri University of Science and Technology, and Washington University in Saint Louis in Strategic Management, Technology, Continuous Improvement, Six Sigma, Statistical Process Control, Taguchi, Project Management, Entrepreneurship and Total Quality Management. He is also teaching courses at AlFaisal University in Riyadh Saudi Arabia. He has been teaching various courses for 20+ years.

Dr. Walter Barnes

Dr. Walter Barnes is currently the Director of Corporate New Product Engineering at Brewer Science, Inc. and responsible for the scale-up and product ramp of specialized semiconductor materials, processes, and capital equipment from the Corporate Product Development innovation pipeline into high-volume manufacturing. Dr. Barnes has been at Brewer Science for 11 years and previously worked for Procter & Gamble, 3M, and Monsanto (now Bayer CropScience) in various engineering, corporate strategy, and finance roles. 

Dr. Barnes earned his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering at Florida A&M University and is a Senior Member of AIChE. He also holds MBA and Juris Doctor (law) degrees from the University of Missouri-Columbia along with M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in engineering management from Missouri University of Science & Technology, where he is an adjunct lecturer.

Dr. José Jiménez

Dr. José M. Jiménez joined the Engineering Management and Systems Engineering department in the fall of 2020 as an Adjunct Instructor. His work experience includes Fortune 500 companies in the areas of Management Consulting, Engineering Management, Project Management, Logistics, and Continuous Improvement. Dr. Jiménez also conducted research for the Biocomplexity Institute at Virginia Tech in highly-detailed, agent-based healthcare simulations. He also has over 20 years of education and training experience in the areas of Physics, Systems Engineering, Project Management, Lean Six Sigma and Epidemiology.

Jiménez joined the US Army Reserve in 2010 and continues to serve as a Major (Environmental Science Engineering Officer) for Public Health Command, West. Jiménez holds certifications as a Fellow, American College of Healthcare Executives, Project Management Professional, Six Sigma Master Black Belt, Certified Professional Engineering Manager, Certified Manager of Quality, Human-Systems Integrator, and as a Senior Army Instructor. Jiménez is the Diversity Chair for the American College of Healthcare Executives - South Texas Chapter.

Dr. John Richards

Dr. John Richards has served as an Operations Research Analyst in the Institute for Systems Engineering Research for the US Army Engineer Research and Development Center since 2020, conducting research in various operations research, systems engineering, and engineering management topics to support the Department of Defense and other Federal agencies. He joined the Engineering Management and Systems Engineering department in the Summer of 2021 having previously taught at the United States Military Academy in both the Department of Civil & Mechanical Engineering and Department of Systems Engineering.

John served in the US Army for 25 years as an Active-Duty Engineer Officer with assignments as a combat and construction engineer leading various units from the detachment to battalion level, including combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. He also served in the Alaska and Detroit Districts of the US Army Corps of Engineers.

He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Colorado, is a Fellow in the American Society for Engineering Management and holds a Six Sigma Green Belt certification. He also serves in leadership roles for both the American Society for Engineering Management and American Society for Engineering Education and is active in the Miliary Operations Research Society and Society of American Military Engineers.
